Te āhua o Te Tūrunga – The nature of the position

The Marketing, Communications, and Fundraising Manager is responsible for developing and leading the implementation of VSA’s marketing and communications plans, including brand, messaging, and public diplomacy, to increase the reach and impact of VSA’s profile across Aotearoa New Zealand and the Pacific. 

You’ll also lead the development of VSA’s fundraising strategy, including growing donor income to achieve targets, with a focus on direct mail and regular giving (including digital), and take responsibility for the retention of donors by focusing on the full donor journey and life-cycle. 

You’ll have three direct reports, namely the Communications Advisor, Visual and Digital Marketer, and Fundraising Advisor, and you’ll be responsible for leading and motivating them to perform at their best and foster a commitment to collaborative teamwork.

Reporting to the Director Stakeholder Engagement, you’ll be a pivotal member of the Stakeholder Engagement Group as well as a member of VSA’s management group.

Ngā tino Pūkenga/Wheako – Essential skills/experiences for the role  
  • Commitment to the principles of international development, understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and an understanding of multiculturalism
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as Marketing, Communications, Media and Journalism, Fundraising, or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in developing and executing marketing, communications and fundraising plans across all forms of media for a range of audiences
  • A great people leader who has an exceptional ability to lead, coach, develop and motivate others
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to relate across the organisation, with external agencies and a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Strong IT skills, with a working knowledge of digital channels and CRM platforms as well as the ability to use analytics tools to make data-informed decisions
  • Good project management skills with a proven track record in delivering programmes of work on time and within agreed budgets
  • Excellent time management skills with an ability to juggle priorities and work to deadlines
The salary range for this role is $95,282 - $112,100, although is negotiable depending on skills and experience. VSA offers flexible working options as well as five weeks annual leave.

The preferred start date for this position is the end of January 2025, but this is negotiable.
