About Our Partner Organisation
The National Referral Hospital (NRH) is located in Honiara and provides secondary to tertiary health care services. It has 49 departments, mostly covering direct patient care although some are for corporate services and non-clinical public health services. It admits around 14,000 per year and has a nursing education programme.

What You’ll Do
As a VSA Volunteer, you'll immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of the Solomon Islands, assisting the NRH leadership team to review the current systems and procedures within the hospital kitchens. You will make recommendations for improvements with a focus on nutrition and better patient outcomes and support the local team to implement the changes whilst developing training and systems to allow the continued smooth running of the facility into the future.

Your Skills and Experiences
  • Qualification in restaurant management
  • In-depth knowledge of kitchen health and safety rules and regulations
  • Experience developing and reviewing policies related to kitchen operations
  • Prior experience leading a hospital or aged care facility kitchen
