Fundraising Advisor

We are looking for a dynamic and dedicated Fundraising Adviser to join our team and be instrumental in growing our fundraising activities. This is a permanent role with the option of full-time or part-time (4 days / 30 hours a week).

Te āhua o Te Tūrunga – The nature of the position

As our Fundraising Advisor, you will be tasked with implementing our fundraising roadmap and strategy. You will report to and work closely with the Marketing, Communications and Fundraising Manager providing them with valuable advice on our fundraising approach.

You’ll provide exceptional donor stewardship, ensuring you are responding to donors in a timely way, with a high level of care and recognition to ensure we retain our wonderful donors and continue to build their engagement with VSA. You will be able to suggest and lead fundraising initiatives to increase our donor engagement and identify new streams of funding for VSA. 

The accurate and timely processing and receipting of donations is part of your role.  and you will be responsible for maintaining and reporting on funds raised, providing insights on donor data analysis and the success of our fundraising activities.  

Ngā tino Pūkenga/Wheako – Essential skills/experiences for the role

We are looking for a people person, who has excellent interpersonal skills that enables them to quickly build a rapport with a diverse range of people in person, on the phone or via written communication. This role requires you to have strong relationship management and cultural competency skills. 

We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate who will bring the following:

  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising campaigns and activities[CL1] , accurate processing of funds, reconciling payments and running reports using a fundraising database. Experience in Vega would be an advantage. 
  • Experience in data management and analysis, with a high level of accuracy, efficiency and attention to detail; interrogating data to identify errors, inconsistencies, and opportunities for growth of donors.  
  • Well-developed written communications skills, and ideally experience with writing and coordinating direct mail and electronic appeals. 
  • Demonstrate ability at planning, organising and co-ordinating tasks to meet multiple deadlines.  

We are seeking some with ideally three years in fundraising, ideally in the not-for-profit or charity sector, and with an interest in further developing a career in fundraising. Experience in the international development sector would be an advantage.

This is a full-time role but we are open to candidates who would prefer 4 days / 30 hours per week (0.8 FTE).

The starting salary range for this role is $69,213 – $81,427 (pro-rated if 0.8FTE) depending on skills and experience. This role is based in Wellington CBD, at the VSA head office, with the flexibility to work-from-home up to a couple of days a week.
